Lasagna - Dad's favorite

Brown together and drain:

  • 1 lb sausage
  • 1 lb hamburger meat
  • 1/2 finely chopped onion

Add:

  • 1 tbsp. basil
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 15 oz can diced tomatos (blendered)
  • 1 small jar traditional Ragu
  • 3-4 shakes of tabasco sauce
  • salt/pepper

Meanwhile (back at the ranch),

  • cook 8 lasagna noodles in boiling water for about 10 minutes

In a seprate bowl combine: 

    • 1 large container of cottage cheese (small curd – 16 oz)
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/4 c of parmesan
    • 1 teaspoon pepper
    • small container of ricotta cheese (usually comes in 8 oz containers)

Layer:  1/2 noodles

            1/2 cottage cheese mix

            2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

            1/2 meat mixture

Repeat layers.  Make sure the top meat layer covers from side to side or else the cheese will get burnt  Sprinkle the top with parmesan.

Cook at 350 for about 35 minutes to heat through.

Serve with garlic bread, salad and a bottle of wine of your choice!
