Strawberry Salad

This recipes comes to you straight from Aunt Janet’s kitchen!  She always makes the best salads!

Ingredients:

4 c romaine lettuce, chopped
4 c spinach, chopped
1/4 c celery, chopped
1 c strawberries, stemmed and sliced

1/2  cup sliced almonds
3 tablespoons

1/3 c vegetable oil
1 c white vinegar
1/4 c sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp Tabasco sauce

Instructions:

1. Put sugar in teflon skillet.  Melt on high temperature.  It turns clear and happens pretty quickly.  Burns easily so stay on top of that part.  When the sugar has turned clear, remove from heat and quick stir in the sliced almonds.  Cool immediately on wax paper.  When it has cooled, crumple it up.
2. Combine first four ingredients in a large bowl.
3. Mix last five ingredients in a container.  Add to salad 30 minutes before serving and stir well.  Also stir in the sugared almonds.
